About
The Rescue Mission, founded in 1903, is a faith-based, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, providing restorative care to men, women, and children experiencing a homeless crisis. Our organization serves Fort Wayne, Allen County, and its nine surrounding counties.
The Mission is comprised of four ministries (or houses) that function as communities of compassion: Life House, Restoration House, Charis House, and Treasure House.
Life House provides immediate relief from hunger and homelessness. We provide transient men with emergency shelter, basic needs (clothing, hygiene products, shower), spiritual support, referrals, other support, and nutritious meals 365 days/3 times per day.
Restoration House provides shelter and cares for men experiencing a crisis. For many men, the Restoration House is their last hope. They’re unemployed. Addicted. Wrestling with problems. We help men understand their past, receive God’s healing, and take steps to move forward. There are organized steps to recovery with our short and long term residential programs that attempt to meet their spiritual, emotional, physical, and educational needs.
Charis House provides shelter and cares for women and children experiencing a crisis. At Charis House, these women not only find relief from homelessness, but they’re also able to heal and move forward. Our restorative programs equip them to find jobs and housing, navigate life’s challenges, experience emotional stability, and grow in their relationship with Christ because the goal is not just to live life, but to thrive.
Treasure House is a great place to get a deal on gently used clothing, home accessories, and furniture. But as a ministry of The Rescue Mission, Treasure House does so much more. Treasure House raises funds, creates training opportunities, and provides clothing and goods to help people overcome homelessness.
