Behind Every Door is a faith-based non-profit organization committed to building pathways of hope for people in underserved neighborhoods. We believe that relationships are strengthened through influence and influence is cemented through being present. Our mission is to go into neighborhoods, love our neighbors, and unlock the God-given potential of individuals by replacing circumstantial despair with hope.
About
Established in 2009, Behind Every Door (BED) was originally conceived by five Dallas couples who desired to serve Dallas’ poorest communities, change the narrative, and break the cycle that can impact generations. Aligned with our mission, BED's ultimate goal is to help bring about a personal transformation, from the inside out, through demonstration of the love of God and a relational connection with each person “behind every door.”
Over 15 years ago, we began our work in a single three-bedroom apartment, and within a year, expanded our work to on-site centers within apartment properties. Today, BED has shifted from concentrating our relationships in apartment-based centers to providing all programs and services from our very own Cedar Crest Community Center in South Oak Cliff. In 2024, we will impact thousands of children and adults in the Cedar Crest community via afterschool and summer programming, sports programming, community events, onsite mental and physical healthcare resources, financial literacy, basic needs, discipleship opportunities, and more.
