Details

Do you enjoy meeting people from around the world? If so, we’ve got a great volunteer opportunity for you! TIPS is a local ministry to internationals that teaches ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes and more. Volunteers are needed to serve as both lead teachers and assistants. Most volunteers serve as assistants. These people help the lead teachers as needed. They welcome students as they arrive, sit in on the class, demonstrate conversations, and serve as breakout group leaders. During these breakout groups, they follow the teacher’s instructions on how to conduct the relevant exercises, and practice active listening and encouragement. There is no preparation needed to serve as an assistant – just show up and be willing to help!

Need to know

Classes are held in-person on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and virtually on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer once a week or more! The Fall semester will start in September. Summer conversation programs are ongoing, and volunteers are always welcome.

Please contact Myra at mhinote@truroanglican.com to find out more information and/or sign up for this fantastic opportunity to serve people from around the world.
