Reclamation
Feeding America West Michigan is the food bank serving 40 of Michigan’s 83 counties, including West Michigan and the entire Upper Peninsula. Our mission is to provide nourishment and hunger relief resources to our neighbors by amplifying the strength of communities through collaboration and advocacy. We believe that hunger is unacceptable and that our community has the power to change lives! Volunteers will be working in our reclamation department, which involves sorting, quality checking and repacking food in our warehouse in Kentwood. For example, we might have 800-pound bulk boxes of cereal or pasta that need to be weighed and repacked into family-sized portions, fresh apples that need to be counted and bagged to be distributed, or even quality checking and inspecting donated product, to ensure our neighbor's have good, safe and quality food.
